Macquarie River

This majestic river flows through Narromine and Trangie, providing fantastic opportunities for fishing, water-skiing, canoeing, swimming and other water-based activities.

Fishing along the Macquarie River is particularly good, with over 22,000 Silver Perch and Murray Cod fingerlings released into the river within the Narromine Shire each year.

Rotary Park – centrally located in Narromine, this site provides great picnic and fishing opportunities. (fishing, water-skiing, picnic spot, fully fenced playground, toilets, boat ramp, undercover BBQ, garbage bins and fenced unleashed dog run)

Macks Reserve (travelling stock reserve) – approx 5km from Narromine on Old Warren Rd (swimming, fishing, picnic spot, garbage facilities, small boat access) There are no toilet facilities and no camping or motorbike riding is permitted.

Turkey Farm Reserve – approx 10km from Narromine on Old Warren Rd (swimming, fishing, small boat access, garbage bin)

Gin Gin Weir Reserve – approx 35km from Narromine on Old Warren Rd (fishing, small boat access, picnic spot, garbage bins, pit toilets)

Gin Gin Bridge Reserve (travelling stock reserve) – approx 35km from Narromine on Old Warren Rd, with entrance from Collie Rd. This reserve is an excellent fishing site. (swimming, fishing. There are no toilet facilities and no camping or motorbike riding is permitted.

Timbrebongie Reserve (travelling stock reserve) – approx 11km from Narromine on Burroway Rd. This reserve has a beautiful beach, however the road into the reserve is rough. (swimming, fishing, picnic spot). There are no toilet facilities and no camping or motorbike riding is permitted.

Webbs Reserve (travelling stock reserve) – approx 5km from Narromine on the Mitchell Highway. This reserve has plenty of good fishing areas. (swimming, fishing, picnic spot, beaches, garbage bins). There are no toilet facilities and no camping or motorbike riding is permitted.

Please note: Camping is not permitted at any of these river reserves.
